While Switch successor rumors have been flying around for awhile now, things have certainly started to heat up in recent weeks. Looks like that trend’s set to continue, as today brings us another wave of juicy speculation.

This time around the supposed information comes to us via the outlet Vandal, who spoke with Rubén Mercado, CEO of game accessory/peripheral company Blade. We’re not sure why, but Mercado was more than willing to share some insight with the Switch successor, which he supposedly is quite familiar with due to the nature of his business.

Here’s the details Mercado was willing to part with. Again, please don’t take any of this as confirmed, as nothing is official until Nintendo says so. Also, please note that these details are from Mercado’s supposed interactions with other manufacturers, along with their speculation. With that said, here are the details that were dropped.

  • the Switch successor is complete
  • Mercado has had access to a near-final version of the hardware
  • the Switch successor will launch sometime around March or April 2025
  • the Switch successor uses magnetic Joy-Con with a locking system to keep them secure
  • the Joy-Con thumbsticks will be considerably different from the current design
  • Nintendo will do a simultaneous worldwide launch of the Switch successor
  • the price could be somewhere between 400€ and 500€

How much of this will line up with the Switch successor? Hopefully Nintendo doesn’t keep us waiting too much longer to find out!

UPDATE: The exact same outlet and source mentioned above are back at it again with more Switch successor rumors. Here’s the tidbits that were shared this time:

  • the system will use analog joysticks
  • it will be slightly larger than a Switch OLED
  • expected to launch at the end of March 2025

Yes, new analog sticks would be extremely great. The joy con analogs were horrible and too small. If they could incorporate Gamecube or Wii-type analogs, but make them a tad bit smaller for portability, we should be in good shape

€400-500 is pretty high; that's $450-550 in USD. Certainly not Nintendo system territory. I almost wonder if they'll be positioning it as a pro model than an outright successor if that's the price, because that's not gonna fly, especially not in THIS economy.

euro pricing tends to be higher than US pricing, so its likely not to be that range in NA

@vinlauria

No, you have it backwards. The PS5 Pro is 700 $ and 800 €. Because of the tax you'll end up at ~750 $ but still below european prices. I expect the "Switch 2" to be the same, so 350-450 $ without tax.

Since there is literally no new info in there and this being a frigging accessory maufacturer, I don't believe on word.

Seems a bit strange that an accessory manufacturer would be told the price

"the system will use analog joysticks"

You don't say.

It must mean something different that is both lost in translation and explanation since every stick since the 80s has been analog. Weve heard other people say there is something different about the sticks, too, so who knows right now.

@bakfug

That just makes me hope they're robotic sticks. I've been hoping for ages that someone would do that.

That together with HD rumble would be too sweet! I implemented in a good way, of course.
