When Nintendo releases more Nintendo 64 games for their Switch Online Expansion Pack service, you can usually expect a glitch or two to come with them. Sometimes there’s a major hiccup that needs to be fixed asap, and other times we get something incredibly trivial, yet still odd. The latter is the case with the Switch Online version of Super Mario 64.

The European Switch Online version of Super Mario 64 has a random bug that doesn’t impact gameplay, but instead causes a spelling error. Should this glitch pop up, Cool, Cool Mountain and Big Boo’s Haunt will occasionally randomly swap O’s and U’s between each other, becoming “Cool, Cool Muuntain” and “Big Boo’s Haont.”

I’m not of a technical mind when it comes to games, so I can’t speak to why it happens. Apparently Nintendo isn’t sure what’s going on either, as the bug still exists in the Switch Online version of the game to this day. Perhaps Nintendo wasn’t even aware of the issue, but they might be now! We’ll have to keep an eye out to see if they end up patching this oddity.
