Nintendo Music is a brand-new app that brings Nintendo soundtracks to your smart devices, from the iconic beats of Super Mario Bros. and the grand soundscapes of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, to the tentacle-tapping tunes of Splatoon 3 and beyond. Exclusively for Nintendo Switch Online members at no additional cost, anyone with a membership can use the app to start their own musical tour through nearly 40 years of Nintendo history … today!
With Nintendo Music, you can stream songs right from the app or download them to the app for offline listening. Search for songs by game title, track name, playlist name or even browse by screenshot. Need background music while you work or study? You can loop songs or extend select tracks to 15, 30 or 60 minutes for uninterrupted listening. No need to worry about game spoilers either, because you can filter out soundtracks that may spoil certain moments for you.

5d agoA very cool perk for Nintendo Switch Online pack members! I'll definitely give it a try, though I do kind of wish they would have just made an official Youtube/Spotify/Apple account for easier access, but this is still nice and it's not like unofficial sources of the music aren't available elsewhere.
EDIT: I just downloaded the app and had some time to mess with it and so far I love it! They really put a lot of work into it. So far they have a nice variety of options but I hope they add more at a fast pace, for example it's a darn shame there's no Super Mario 64 yet! But I do like that you can extend the song to play in various increments (like 15 minutes to an hour). The fact they added music from the Wii OS and channels is amazing!

5d agoThis is...possibly the worst way they could have gone about this. A proprietary app that includes only their own music and can't be mixed into the rest of the user's collection? What reason is there to do this? Are they afraid someone will put Aquatic Ambience in the same playlist as WAP?
And it's Switch Online exclusive, without even a more limited version to entice non-subscribers. I've generally been less incensed than others about Switch Online and its features, but this takes reinventing the wheel to a new level. Converting their music catalog into goodwill should be a total slam dunk, but clearly the leadership of NCL is out to lunch.

5d agoI love it, honestly glad they're doing their own thing, annoying that it's only if you have NSO, but I find this better than ad-infested youtube. I only hope they stick with this for the long run, and that they don't pull a Miiverse.
It’s clear they are more interested in it as a value add for NSO members and a slight nudge to get some more subscribers (and another thing they can drip feed new content to lol). It’s a clean and functional app and the main gripe I have is the lack of crediting composers. Being critical is fair, but this is not surprising at all. Nintendo are always focused on total control creatively, and total ownership

5d agoI personally love this! I'm excited to rediscover tunes from games I haven't played in decades. Already stumbled onto the Walking song from Nintendogs. How did I forget how good that song is!
