Hackers make DOOM fully playable on Alarmo
Just as the prophecy foretold
Just a few days ago, we reported on the progress hackers were making with Nintendo’s Alarmo. Alarmo is Nintendo’s newly released alarm clock, so of course everyone was waiting with bated breath to see how and when games could be made playable on it. Now, hackers GaryOderNichts and Spinda have achieved the inevitable: getting a playable version of DOOM to run on the device.
Previously, the farthest they had gotten was the ability to upload and display a cat photo on the Alarmo’s screen. That was a small start, but just a few days later and we already have a full game of Bethesda’s original DOOM up and running - and yes, it’s fully playable.
In this version of the game, you use the dial at the top of the Alarmo as your controller. By rotating your fingers around it you can make your character turn. Pressing the dial moves you forward, and you use one of the Alarmo’s two buttons to fire your weapons. Is this the most efficient way to play DOOM? No, but it sure is neat!
Check out a video of DOOM in action on Alarmo via the tweet below.
RUMOR: Fortnite leak could indicate upcoming Mario crossover
Will Mario board the Battle Bus?
Fortnite has become a massive hub for crossover content, getting cameo content from properties like Marvel, Star Wars, LEGO, Street Fighter, and countless others. One company they have yet to collaborate with is Nintendo, although it’s not for lack of trying. Now, newly leaked asset seems like a hint that some kind of partnership might finally be on the way for the two companies.
Well known Fortnite dataminer iFireMonkey has discovered a new asset in Fortnite’s files following their most recent update. The asset is seemingly for “some type of Vehicle cosmetic”, and it strongly resembles a yellow Question Mark Block from the Mario series. Check it out below:
It’s possible that this asset was never meant to see the light of day and won’t actually amount to anything, but it’s just about impossible to deny its similarity to the iconic Mario blocks. Does this mean that Epic has finally convinced Nintendo to include some of their properties in Fortnite? It sure seems like something is going on behind the scenes, but nothing is confirmed for now. Stay tuned to see if any more news on this one comes to light.

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven dev on how they approached the remake's changes
Reduce, reuse, remake
Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven launched on Switch last week, and it’s a full remake of the original 1993 RPG on Super Nintendo. When it comes to remaking a classic, it’s always a challenge deciding what should be changed and what should be kept the same. In a new interview with Nintendo Everything, Romancing Saga producer Shinichi Tatsuke explains how the dev team approached this remake.
According to Tatsuke, the team’s main goal was to keep the things that made the original what it was, including “the worldview, storyline, and SaGa-like systems, such as the Inheritance System, Glimmers, and Formations”. However, they also wanted to update it to include features that many modern RPGs share. Read some of Tatsuke’s thoughts below:
There were many elements in the original that were said to be inconvenient, so we improved upon them. For example, in the original game, if you keep running away from enemies, they only get stronger and eventually, you will get stuck trying to progress. That won’t happen with Revenge of the Seven. Also, there was a lot of data that was hidden in the original game, such as enemy resistance/weaknesses, so we indicated this clearly in the remake.
Our policy was to include features that are included in most modern RPGs. For example, you will be notified when new weapons can be developed, when development is complete, and such. Destinations are always displayed on screen. You can also check the details of the event you are currently proceeding with. In this way, we included features that are a given in today’s games.
Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is available right now on Nintendo Switch. You can check it out to see all the updates for yourself, or click here to read the rest of this interview.

Outlast movie announced by Lionsgate Studios
From the studio that brought you Saw
Lionsgate Studios has announce that they’re officially partnering with video game developer Red Barrels to develop a film based on the Outlast horror franchise. The movie will be produced by Roy Lee, who was also a producer on horror movies like It and Barbarian.
A director has not yet been announced for the project, but we do know that the screenplay will be written by J.T. Petty. In addition to writing screenplays for horror movies like The Burrowers, Petty is the primary writer on the original Outlast games. That probably means that this will be a very faithful adaptation!
Producer Roy Lee had the following to say about the announcement: “When Outlast launched in 2012, it changed the landscape of horror gaming, setting a new standard for immersion in the genre. Its deep, emergent lore has provided a perfect foundation for creating a film that delves into the psychological and physical horrors at the core of the franchise. I’m excited to bring this unique world to life for both new viewers and the series’ dedicated fans.”
Stay tuned for more updates on the Outlast movie, such as a director, cast, and release date. In the meantime, you can check out the Outlast games, which are currently on sale on the Switch eShop for Halloween.
