Blue Plaque Unveiling – Julia Varley OBE

Recognising Julia Varley OBE (1871-1952) The Birmingham Civic Society unveiled a Blue Plaque in honour of Julia Varley today.
The ‘unveiling’ ceremony took place at Selly Manor in the Minworth Greave building; the plaque will be put up at Julia Varley’s former home in Hay Green Lane, Bournville. Born in 1871, Julia Varley began her working life aged 12 as a sweeper in a Bradford woollen mill and by the age of 15 had begun to undertake union activities…
