DUDLEY Canal and Tunnel Trust own the historic tug called No.5 Bittell.
Last year it became evident that after 83 years the hull was in need of a replacement.The tug was built in 1934 by Yarwoods and Sons of Northwich for Stewart and Lloyds at Coombeswood in Halesowen. Its main duties were to tow empty joey boats up to Cannock to collect coal from there, then to deliver the full boats at Stewart and Lloyds, Bilston, and finally down to Coombeswood…
